West Ham and Chelsea have held ‘ exploratory’ talks in the first mini transfer window of the summer for a transfer of Hammers’ Mohammed Kudus. Reportedly, Potter could have had his choice from any of five, six or eight players – depending on who you believe -all of whom were offered by Chelsea in part payment.
We know that The Hammers subsequently enquired about goal keeper Robert Sanchez: Much to the ire of Hammers fans who still see him as an accident waiting to happen.
News that Chelsea’s FIFA club world cup squad includes their three top keepers: Robert Sánchez, Filip Jorgensen and Mike Pender but leaves out another Hammers-linked target, Djordie Petrovic ,just adds to the intrigue and suggestion that the Serb has remained in the UK being discontent with staying as Chelseas’ fourth choice and plans to seek out a new club.
West Ham need a goal keeper, Petrovic needs guaranteed game time. West Ham need to sell Kudus and Chelsea want to buy him. See where this is going ? If the two clubs have the germ of an agreement with ‘keeper Petrovic heading to London Stadium then that could indeed be a win/win arrangement.
Petrovic could be a very shrewd Hammers signing. Telegraph.co.uk today speculates that the 25 year old – who had a stellar season on loan at Strasbourg – is not content with being fourth choice at Chelsea and has, indeed, stayed behind to finalise a deal. Certainly an improvement on the much discussed Aaron Ramsdale suggestion, if speculation turns to hard and fast negotiating then West Ham could look forward to a serious keeper in the Fabianski mould heading east.
No consolation for waving good bye to Mohammed Kudus, of course but ‘business is business’ and if West Ham could make 100% profit on all of their players then PSR would never be an issue again.
The second window open s again next week so once the CWC final is out of the way then the serious business of transfer dealing gets under way.
In theory, that might be possible, but ….
Given the way Chelsea seem to value players (They paid £12.5mil++ for Petrovic in ’23), I imagine they’ll want more than West Ham will want to pay, and we don;t know how much they are pricing Kudos at…
Great choice for keeper and some cash too for us. Hopefully this will happen.
Isn’t any better than Areola with the ball at his feet though which I thought was the reason to upgrade?..
In your opinion that is. It’s not just about having a keeper with the ball at his feet. Lol
Watch areola under potter then go back and watch him under moyes , it’s plain as day he has been told to play it out from the back with his feet.
