On a momentous day when the club’s record signing appears to be heading for the exit, West Ham fans will have been more worried by the news -as claimed by Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg – that AS Roma have entered in a bid to take the Hammers’ flying winger away from the London Stadium.

Whether it is a bid to test the water or a serious opening offer, the Italian giants have apparently made their bid – apparently in the region of £22 million – for the former Leeds United forward who has been bang on form in the last few weeks with goals and assists for West Ham.

However, the short term stance of the West Ham board is clear enough, a club insider stating categorically that:

Summerville will not be sold in this window”.

Sort of good news, but little comfort beyond May, then.

Of course, along with every other valuable West Ham asset, Crysencio Summerville will be highly likely to depart should the club succumb to relegation at the end of the season.

There’ll likely be a bit of a bunfight for the ‘top tier’ of Hammers stars should the Championship beckon, meaning Mateus Fernandes and Jarrod Bowen will be fighting off suitors from Europe’s top leagues.

However – for the time being – the Dutch flyer remains a Hammer. Whatever Roma may care to bid.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Think we are going to have quite a few players of interest teams are going to want to poach, including those making names for themselves (x U21s). Hope NES/DS is a long term agreement which means the squad being built plus youngsters, will not be decimated next season be it in the PL or C.

‘Will not be sold this window”. What kind of idiots are running our club? The answer should be “not for sale”

  • Mike says:

This just highlights what a nightmare it would be if we went down, the squad would have its bones picked dry. I remember how difficult it was to get out of the championship last time, it would be horrible.

Obviously means we need to stay up ⚒️
