AC’s Brazil dream fading

Carroll fist upAndy Carroll’s is losing the race to Brazil.

The big Geordie has  his heart set on landing a place in England manager Roy Hodgson’s World Cup squad but with a return of two goals from 13 Premier League games his hopes are fading.

Hodgson has been keen to involve Carroll but with the player still struggling to find any sort of goal touch the England boss is getting little encouragement to pick him.

He may now revert to an original plan to take three strikers – Wayne Rooney, Daniel Sturridge and Danny Welbeck with Carroll and Southampton’s Rickie Lambert both missing out.

A source close to the player said:  “Andy is obviously worried about his lack of goals and has his heart set on the World Cup.

“But word around the West Ham is that the England manager may have been left unimpressed.

However, if the big fella goes out with a blast against  Spurs and Manchester City he may yet be in with a shout.”
