Adrian has made it clear that the three at the back system which was so successful on Saturday at Palace may not necessarily become a regular feature of the Irons tactical approach.
The stopper was thrilled with the victory in south London but said: “‘This system worked for us. Every game is different and we went with this one, and luckily for us it worked.’
Ahead of the game a clean sheet had been seen as the big target for the Hammers. That we did was down to the stopper’s remarkable save from Connor Wickham in injury time.
He added: ‘It’s very important to keep a clean sheet because if you score one goal, like we did, you win three points.’
‘We fought until the end with one player less, which was very difficult because they pushed and their fans pushed a lot,’ he added.
‘We defended so well until the last minute and finally we got the win, and it’s a massive three points for us.
‘It would have probably changed the game if he’d scored the penalty, but he missed and we continued fighting in the second half, and I think we deserved the win.’
I do like Adrian as a shot stopper, but I am not so keen on his decision making, from corners and set pieces. He doesn’t command his box, like Parkes or Ludo, which in turn puts doubt in the defenders.Still things he can improve on is distribution which has been spoke a lot about, but he had a good game this week, great save, match winner.
