After Irons roll of shame comes a great decision

GSB – now joined by K – have taken plenty of battering down the years despite having been responsible for keeping the Irons in the top bracket for a long old while in our terms.

Yes, there have been times when criticism has been in order but fair play to them over their treatment of Mark Noble following the announcement that he is to become sporting director at the club.

Amd fair play to Mark Noble can give West Ham and David Moyes the kick in the arse they need (football365.com).

They point out that Bobby Moore was treated terribly until after he died. Billy Bonds (799 appearances) rarely returns. Frank Lampard Snr (670) was cast out with Harry Redknapp. Alvin Martin (596) is a media pundit. Jimmy Ruffell (505) worked for a brewery. Trevor Brooking (643) is still a presence around the club, but in a very benign capacity. He’s unlikely to be kicking down Moyes’ door demanding an answer as to why he is refusing to start Maxwel Cornet.

And there is the whole point. Mark Noble has never taken any messing. David Moyes – for all his achievement so far at the club does not – let’s be honest – have claret and blue seeping out oof his veins like the boy from Canning Town.

Sporting Director is a very big title indeed which gives the former skipper the same influence at the club as Moyes or any other manager. Where it leaves Rob Newman is another question entirely and it will be interesting to see if there are any developments in that area now or later.

That Mark could only put around six months behind him before getting started in the role tells us all we need to know – let’s get ready for some serious and really radical decision making from our main man.

And well done again to the board 0n great appointment

  1. Yes Hugh totally agree this is great for WHU and Mark, and surely supported by all fans? Any comment about inexperience for the role can surely be countered by his experience of West Ham, of football and its people, of nan- management and of caring. Passionately. He can do it his way, no need for a template, and we know it will be for the good of the club. Every time.
