Against all the odds

|

David-Moyes-1147952West Ham and Manchester City have met three times last season in all competitions – City won all three by a 12-1 aggregate scoreline. The Hammers have won just three of the last 25 meetings in all competitions with City, drawing five and losing 17.

City’s 12-match Premier League winning run this season has only been bettered by Chelsea (13 in 2016-17) and Arsenal (13 in 2001-02). City are unbeaten in 27 matches in all competitions (W23, D4).

West Ham are without a win in their last seven league games, drawing three, and have only scored five goals in that run. The Hammers have conceded a Premier League-high 30 goals this season; opponents City are the league’s top scorers with 44.

Defeat for West Ham would set a new club record for fewest points after 15 Premier League matches, with just 10.

The Hammers have not won any of their eight away league games this season and have only won one of their last 15 Premier League away matches (D6, L8).

Bookmakers Ladbrokes are offering odds 28/1 for a West Ham win with 1o/1 for a draw.

Paddypower are offering 90/1 for a West Ham 1-0 win while a West Ham 2-1 win still commands 80/1 with Ladbrokes.

A West Ham 3-0 win is 500/1 with Paddypower!

Unfortunately long odds don’t necessarily make a good value bet. You can offer a million billion to one that sun won’t come up tomorrow… but it will. Idiots will say ‘but can you say there’s no chance the sun won’t come up tomorrow?’ and if you answer truthfully they’ll say ‘well there you go!’ There fact is, the sun will come up tomorrow and West Ham will lose to Citeh… much i might wish it wasn’t so. The odds are meaningless. Bookies are businessmen not charities.

We may well be the undisputed underdogs , 32 but every dog can have it’s day . If City don’t beat us it will surprise everyone . Football is notorious for surprises though .

Agree Kevin. Anything can happen in football.
We could be a banana skin for them.
I would love to get a Point from this or 3.
I haven’t condemned us to doom yet for this game

Should be 1000 to 1 and it would still be the safest money the bookies made all day. If City play their worst match of the season and we play our best we would still be underdogs.
