Agent confirms Hammers bid

One of the agents of Florian Thauvin has confirmed that West Ham made an offer to sign his client in the summer transfer window.

The French winger departed Marseille in 2021 on a free transfer and moved to Tigres UANL in Mexico.

Thauvin is a full France international with 1o caps – he was a member of their World Cup winning squad in 2018 – and he made a total of 281 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, scoring 86 goals and laying on 61 assists.

That’s a remarkable record and as a result, there was plenty of interest from Premier League clubs in securing his signature.

Along with the Hammers, Newcastle and Manchester City are said to have made their interest in Thauvin known, but he instead opted to take on his new challenge in Mexico.

Since moving, the winger has played 16 times for the club, and Ludovic Delechat, an agent who worked on the deal, has told TuttoMercatoWeb that the Hammers entered into talks over a potential deal.

He said: “There were talks with Pablo Longoria, the president, then the interest of big clubs like Milan, Atalanta, Rome, Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, West Ham, Crystal Palace, Lyon towards the end.”
