Jordan Hugill’s agent is trying to find him a new club, but a return to Preston North End is ‘highly unlikely’, according to The Lancashire Evening Post, which cites PNE club sources. Hugill left Preston to sign for West Ham in a £9.2 million deal in January 2018 but he has failed to make a breakthrough to the first team.
With Hugill enjoying Premier League wages it makes it difficult to join a Championship side without taking a significant wage cut to get a move.
The 27-year-old scored seven goals in 42 games for Middlesbrough last season showing he is unlikely to make it in the Premier League any time soon. The Hammers placed a £10m price tag on their striker in an attempt to claim back the transfer fee the club paid but Middlesborough declined at the end of the season.
The striker who was signed by David Moyes has a contract until June 2022. Hugill managed just three appearances in the Premier League for West Ham and failed to score in his 22 minutes of action
