Aguerd makes debut

Nayef Aguerd will make his West Ham debut against Silkeborg this evening.

The Morocco international came to the club from Rennes in the summer but has not made his competitive debut, having sustained a serious ankle injury in pre-season against Rangers.

As a result, it’s been a long wait for Aguerd to get back on the grass, but he is set to make his first appearance for the club in the Europa Conference League.

Boss David Moyes has rung the changes elsewhere, bringing Alphonse Areola in to replace Lukasz Fabianski in goal, while there are plenty of outfield changes, too.

Moyes has opted to return to a back five formation, comprising his defence of Vladimir Coufal, Ben Johnson, Angelo Ogbonna and Emerson, along with Aguerd.

In midfield, Conor Coventry makes his first start in some time, alongside Manuel Lanzini.

Up front, Mikey Antonio leads the line, and is supported by Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma

Full West Ham XI: Areola; Coufal, Johnson, Ogbonna, Aguerd, Emerson; Coventry, Lanzini; Fornals, Antonio, Benrahma. Subs: Randolph, Zouma, Kehrer, Cresswell, Soucek, Rice, Downes, Scamacca, Hegyi, Potts, Appiah-Forson.
