Aguerd returns
Nayef Aguerd last night returned to action for Morocco having played his last game for the Hammers back on December 17 against Wolves.
He was in decent form for Morocco as the defeated Tanzania 3-0 in Afcon’s Group F following their runners-up position in the World Cup.
His sickness and injury appeared to have cleared up completely as his international team kept their clean sheet and he remained on the pitch for the entire game!
His defensive partner and captain Romain Saïss scored the opener after half an hour before Marseille midfielder Azzedine Ounahi and long time linked Hammers “target” Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri added further goals in the second half.
He will no doubt be in action again against DR Congo on Sunday before a final Group F clash against Zambia next Wesnesday.
The final will take place at the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpé on Sunday 11 February at 8pm GMT.
Aguerd was making his 36th appearance for his national side since his debut in August 2016 and has previously helped Morocco to win their first African Nations Championship, won in their home nation with a 4-0 win over Nigeria.
Mohammed Kudus and Ghana face Egypt in Group B at the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny in Abidjan tonight at 8pm GMT.
