Injury could sideline Song for three months

|

Songy

Alex Song’s injury could be far worst than originally thought – and the midfielder may face surgery and up to three months on the sidelines.

The player’s proposed move from Barcelona to east London could also be in jeopardy if Irons medical staff discover the injury is significantly worse that first thought.

Having experienced a torrid time with striker, Andy Carroll, it is very unlikely the club will entertain any thoughts about signing another crocked star – unless the injury proves to be minor.

Song, 27, is understood to have already agreed personal terms, but has been waiting for Barca and Hammers officials to iron out the finer details of his deal.

But today’s Daily Mail claims Song has discovered he has a piece of floating bone, which may require surgery and rule him out of the start of the Premier League season.

If he does sign, Song would become the second highest earner at club. His £3.9 million-a-year deal would only be eclipsed by Carroll, who earns £4.4 million.

We will see, aint going to believe it all just yet on the strength of a newspaper report. They make Mystic B look like a genius 😀

  • Hammerman6 says:

When commenting on this site at during the later part of last season I repeatedly mentioned I felt Song had an injury, which I quoted as ‘suspect knee problems’. (It has not been reported were this bone is located but…. most likely the knee. !) I thought he was playing under par, and if this gets resolved, he would still be a great acquisition when fully fit. Players of his calibre rarely come on free transfers.

I was going to suggest Hammerman as the new and true Mystic lol but he may have made a great spot however if the injury is as feared will the Daves go for A Song,I think they might’ve risked it if AC had never happened but maybe not now

  • Simply The Best says:

Yeah i think the big packs of ice with half of the Arctic wrapped round his knees was a giveaway, lol, probably only now realized about the floating bone.No big deal if true, soon get it sorted out 🙂

  • Michael Miller says:

Last season he was taken off in quite a few games and it seemed obvious he was carrying an injury and they were trying to protect it – obviously it affected him badly in the second half of the season.

We can’t afford to take the chance with him – we’ve got enough injury prone players already!

  • Simply The Best says:

Its only a bit of floating bone if reports are correct. It is nothing major, they will just flush it out.He wont be out for three months i doubt. No way i would bin the move for him because of this.

A big risk to go ahead & bring in a injured player, for all the good he did in the latter part of last season mabe he should have had it done then. With the clubs all having big medical facilities available to them & managers constantly saying that so & so will have a scan to see how bad an injury is, how was this ‘floating bone’ not picked up before? I know if its a free transfer money will be saved but £75k aweek is still alot of money. Personaly i wouldn’t risk it until January at least. Get a contract drawn up saying we will sign him when fit & let Barcelona pay for everything up till that point. The club already shell out enough money to players who can’t play.

  • SwissStu says:

I wonder if this is the reason that Barca are letting him go on a free?

  • Spoonie Spoonlic says:

Stop having a ****ing panic on.I had some floating bone taken out from my elbow, its **** all serious. The operation was a piece of ****.Calm down.He will be back good as new after.Has this placed turned into wetpants overnight 😀

  • Stingray Stewart says:

Bloody hell its only floating bone that ‘may’ require surgery. He aint done his bleedin cruciate.

  • Dainon16 says:

I had a floating bone in the bath last night, didn’t take 3 months to fix the problem

  • bubs says:

Good bargaining point to get him for zero and tell Song to take a pay cut until he is fit
50% wages for 3 months unless like Dainon he can sort it out in the bath,

  • Dainon16 says:

I had help Bubs, maybe my wife ….. Nah I’m stopping now
