“All at peace in Zagreb…great atmosphere” – top journo

|

Despite reports of violence from Zagreb  reporter Tom Clark has told ClaretandHugh that he has seen nothing but goodwill and friendship among Hammers and Dinamo fans.

“It’s been great  last night and today – a really superb atmosphere with Irons and Zagreb fans drinking together last night ” said Tom of www.Football. London.

“It’s a beautiful place and  the police have been very quick to break up any big gatherings and keep a tight eye on things but I’ve seen no trouble whatsoever.”

It seems to be a far cry from the reports which have arisen this morning  where three Brits were reported to have been arrested following clashes with opposition fans last night.

And sadly it’s another reflection of how some current  media are happier concentrating on isolated incidents involving single figures when thousands are gathering for a match.

Tom was heading off towards the stadium as we spoke and is predicting a 2-0 win for the Hammers. I’m going for the same with Mikey getting the first – that’s my bet for the day.

I’m sure there are isolated issues due to drink outside many premier league grounds pre match during the course of the season that aren’t deemed worthy of mention by the press. But this match involves WHUFC who I believe are still a target for certain sections of the media going back to the Tevez saga and subsequently the move to the LS.
