All New West Ham Go Transfer Crazy

There’s something very fishy going on at West Ham right now, and it all feels quite alien.

By some miracle, the Hammers appear to have a coherent transfer strategy, joined-up thinking, and, dare I say it, competency.

The whirlwind of transfer activity in recent days has been so intense that I’ve barely had time to keep up. Just as I finish a video or blog about one transfer target, another appears out of nowhere and I begin again.

It’s important to note that recent player links are not just idle gossip or speculation either. These are serious bids submitted for several very good players and the negotiations appear to be progressing worryingly well.

All things considered, our beloved Irons seem to be on the verge of signing the Championship Player of the Year, a World Cup winner, a £50m defender from Manchester United, a top-class striker, and potentially the best young defender in France.

The sheer volume of activity is overwhelming, and it’s quite incredible. Especially since West Ham could potentially wrap up all their transfer business before the season starts—something very uncharacteristic for us long suffering Irons fans to behold.

Of course, there’s still work to be done, and aside from Summerville, none of the deals are finalised yet. However, there is a clear intent and strategy behind the current flurry of activity, and I, for one, am loving it.

I’ll be amazed if all of em come off, but well happy with the types we’re bidding for.

  • Hammer _Rite says:

You say the summerville deal is finalised but it’s not on the official West Ham site?

  • Mart says:

Nothing solid coming through, can’t get excited.

  • Gary Ryan Hammerton says:

There’s conflicting reports about obi wan in regards inter Milan any threat to us or are united doing to us what we have done to others ?

    • Gonzo says:

In all honesty mate, I’d be surprised if they can match his wages.

At this stage I think West Ham & Man U are playing chicken with each other over who pays the loyalty bonus

      • Gary Ryan Hammerton says:

Yeah that’s a fair point I think most clubs in Italy, France even Spain are pretty much choking at high transfers and wages

  • Charlie Farley says:

There was some pretty negative stuff written only last week about our apparent inactivity in the transfer market. Now that things are moving – if we are to accept what Gonzo is saying – I hope the nature of the comments will be very different.

This site in particular has been pushing an agenda that the club’s activities in the transfer window were a farce. Without anything to back it up other than speculation. Now that it appears the club may have a good transfer window the story becomes there that there has been a miraculous change. No, this site pushed a lot of negative made up nonsense for clickbait. Suggest a player (often based on another sites post) was of interest to West Ham and then when (not surprisingly) nothing happened there would be a story about the club’s failing. The headline to this article should be ‘we got it wrong’

Apart from Summerville, these aren’t done yet. There are medicals to pass and all sorts of things can happen. West Ham has a reputation of plucking defeat out of the jaws of victory. I don’t believe anything until that West Ham email drops into my inbox.

      • Rodders says:

100% agree. This site was really negative on our summer window. That’s their dna, always jump in with both feet.

      • Superboom says:

Yeah but that’s nearly always Simon leyland dude

  • Phil McDonald says:

I think at times the clubs transfer strategy and last minute (or none) activity has been hard to fathom. But I think they deserve a pat on the back for the way they’ve kept the Guido Rodríguez deal under wraps. Even if it ultimately fails they’ve given themselves maximum chance possible.

    • Dudley Tyler says:

I think because financial limitations now play such a big part in transfer windows clubs like West Ham are effectively doing a money jigsaw. If they put up more money for Duran (for example) then that means less for bringing another player in. In the end it becomes that best fit of players for the money there is to spend. As a result you suddenly get a rash of players signing as they execute ‘the package’. Clubs are no longer buying the ‘best’ player for a position but instead the player that provides the right amount of value to be included as part of an overall package for the window. And those packages are probably data driven. Which set of players provides the biggest potential uplift in data for the investment.

      • Phil McDonald says:

Or put more simply, we seem to be more organised and professional under Steidten.

  • Pete says:

    Tim S

Sorry mate I disrespected you, hands up, you amaze me buddy. Thank you for taking our team into the 21 century!

  • Jim2607 says:

Wow, just wow… Timmy take a bow. If all these 5 get through, Jimmy, Incredible Fulk, Obi Wan, Guido Fawkes and Todibo or a-n other top CB thats just fantastic.
Careful what you wish for??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
👏👏👏👏👏👏 top work TS and co

  • David says:

I for one never ever doubted Steidten, even when so many sites were commenting on our naff window to date. I must admit that the negativity was beginning to get to me, but I told myself that a Technical Dir. who can bring in Kudus and Alvarez at the prices he achieved deserved time! Now, in the blink of an eye everything seems rosey! It’s good to see that we now have some kind of direction in regards to transfers. We were supposed to have got Fullkrug last summer, but dinosaur Moyes vetoed the signing!

  • Upton Park says:

If we cross the line with summer ville, fullkurg and are freebie argentine I’d be happy . If we did get obi wan I’d honest to God scream out loud it has been our best ever window . Still need to shift some dead weight to balance the books tho . Zouma ? Cornet ? Ings ?
I’d love to see dhuran but bowen might lead the line this year . All depends on who J Lo sets his stall out

  • Ian says:

IF we get Summerville, Rodriguez, Fullkrug, Todibo and Wan Bissaka in, it will have been a very good window indeed. You would think that’s our incoming business finished. Obviously we would also need to shift a few out.

  • rollercoaster hammer says:

great post Gonzo, hope it shuts up some (all) of the moaners who come on here to show everyone just how much they like to sh*t their own pants and call everyone muppets. honestly starting to agree with everyone calling our supporters the biggest moaners in the league. getting our business done before the windrow closes is a rarity for us and i certainly am enjoying this ride. you must be exhausted, evidenced by your use of the bizarre phrase “worryingly well” 😆 keep ît coming 👍🏻⚒

  • Anton says:

I am amazed, there does seem to be a plan and strategy in place after all – lets hope we can close out the deals you mentioned, then it maybe an exciting season after all !

  • Ray says:

Despite the rhetoric, West Ham (Tim Steidten) have still only signed one first team player in seven weeks of potential transfer business. As it stands today that is not good news for anyone who gives a sh*t about this club. By COB Monday that MIGHT all change, but if not then WHU are facing a very shaky future. West Ham could be on the verge of becoming a regular top 6 PL finisher that can attract the best players, but right now they are more likely to be back to fighting relegation and losing the few good players they have. Let’s hope Monday is all good news.

  • Bonzo says:

According to Harry Sherlock of goal.com we are offering Man U 10 million but they want 15. Now inter Milan have come for him and wan bissaker would rather play in Italy than play for us. Who knows if that’s true or not.
