All you need to know: Everton v West Ham

West Ham take on a high-flying Everton team on New Year’s Day.

The two sides will clash with the Toffees looking to make up ground on leaders Liverpool.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side are currently fourth and haven’t lost in five; they are just four points behind their bitter rivals.

The Hammers, by comparison, are 10th, six points behind Ancelotti’s men in fourth.

Everton have a number of injury issues.

Allan will miss out with a thigh injury, along with Lucas Digne (ankle), James Rodriguez (calf), Fabian Delph (thigh), and Jean-Philippe Gbamin (calf).

Richarlison could return after a concussion.

The Hammers have a poor record against the Toffees.

They have only won one of the last five meetings, running out 3-1 winners in 2018.

Since then, Everton have won 2-0 twice, there has been a 1-1 draw, and the Irons were beaten 4-1 in the League Cup earlier this season.

  1. We are six points behind 4th place but we are not going to get six points from one game, so the way I prefer to look at it is we are only 3 points from 5th place. Now that is achievable.
