Sam: It won’t be all out attack against Liverpool

|

sam-allardyceSam Allardyce is set to select his team for Liverpool from the same squad as drew at Hull on Monday evening.

The manager – pleased with the performance if not the result – revealed this morning that he will stick by the players who drew with Steve Bruce’s outfit.

As the club attempts to win its first match at the Boleyn this season, the manager has made it clear that the team “will not go all out to attack” the visitors.

He said:”We’re playing at home which makes it a bit different.  They’ll set up a bit differently away from home. We have to take into consideration the talent Liverpool have as a team and as individuals.”

He added that much will depend on how the team look after the ball pointing out that Liverpool – because of their attacking style “leave a few gaps.”

And he said: “We’ll have to exploit them when we can. We might not get as much possession as we usually do so we’ll have to make the most of it, and take the chances we create.

“I’m not daft enough to say we’re going to press Liverpool and pin them back in their own half, I don’t think that is going to happen.

“But we’re going to try when we can but make sure at the same time we’re resilient at the back. If we’re on top of our game we’ll give them a very good match.”
