Alvarez and Kudus were heroic

|

It was entirely right that the two former Ajax colleagues  scored the goals which saw us into the last 16 of the Europa League. Alvarez and Kudus were heroic and showed all the understanding they  had learned from each other’s game at Ajax writes HUGHIE SOUTHON.

Alvarez and Kudus were heroic

Watch the Kudus goal on You Tube and as the No 19 lifts a beautuiful ball over the defence, Kudus make a magical move to stay on side and score a great goal. That is stuff you learn on the training pitch and as Alvarez said afterwards – as some of us realised at the time – this came because they know each other so well.

It was easy to see tonight why we had been hammered at Fulham…no Alvarez,  who was key to so much that happened tonight at the back. That he should then score his first goal in claret and blue was  perfect moment for him and us, Well done Edson – great game!

As for Mo Kudus…my God, what a player who is impossible to shove off the ball and who sets up deliveries to make you heart beat just that little bit faster. He has now scored seven Hammers goals in 19 games and was brought into the club for just £38 million which is utterly extraordinary business by Tim Steidten.

There could have been no more perfect response following the Craven Cottage catastrophe…well done Moyes, well done the boys and Edson and Mo that was absolutely top stuff!
