Alvarez talks taking place
According to the latest reports , it now seems most unlikely that the Bayern Munich midfielder, Leon Goretzka will be on his way to the London Stadium.
But all is not lost as it seems that talks may finally taking place with Edson Alvarez from Ajax.
The midfielder has been valued at about £35m and the 25 year old would be a classy addition to our ranks.
The Mexico international is primarily a defensive midfielder who is very strong in the air and according to Fbref won over 3.38 aerial challenges per game, which far outweighed Declan Rice in that aspect as he could only manage 1.02 .
That appears to show he could be an upgrade on Rice in that regard, given that the England international has averaged just 1.02.
It gets even better when you tot up a tackle count against Rice as he is ahead there too.
Even if we have to pay £40m for him, I really think he is the business.
I thought it was a story here yesterday that we are nowhere near buying anyone but the next day we are in talks with Alvarez ?
