Alvarez Update – Seeing is Believing

Positive news has been thin on the ground since the signing of Max Kilman which  seems  about three month ago. The interim has been filled of rumours of failed bids, missed targets and squad shortcomings.

However, from the official West Ham United Facebook page comes the very welcome news that El Machin – Edson Alvarez– has touched down in Tampa.

Both from the fact that after his hamstring injury sustained in the Copa America he is deemed fit enough to join the squad in Florida – but from the video posted it is clear that walking isn’t a problem for the Mexican as he greets other squad players.

Good news indeed; He may still be some weeks away from full fitness but compared with the worst case scenario being aired on news outlets just a few weeks ago claiming he could miss the first half of the season- it would seem clear that the injury is nowhere as bad as first reported and he is ready to train at whatever level to progress his rehab into the first team sooner rather than later.

When viewed in the context of the Irons’ mediocre performances in pre season, his return to fitness cannot come soon enough.

Who knowns, maybe the future captain too – so this will serve as a big boost to team and management morale at this challenging time in the recruitment and  redevelopment process which Lopetegui is undertaking.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. Don't take my comments too seriously, imagine we are having a chat at half time over a pint at L S and "let's disagree without falling out".
