Alvarez update
David Moyes has said the club will wait to make a decision on Edson Alvarez’s debut after the midfielder was not included in the squad for our game against Bournemouth yesterday.
Speaking to BBC Sport following West Ham’s 1-1 draw with Bournemouth, he said: “He [Alvarez] has not trained yet, so we’ll just need to wait and see, get him back training and we’ll make a decision as the days go on.”
The Mexican was not really expected to feature against Bournemouth anyway, due to him still getting used to life at the London Stadium and the timing of the Cherries game.
Nevertheless, we will all be eagerly awaiting his debut after his transfer from Ajax, perhaps next week at Chelsea?.
Once he is deemed to be up to speed, it is likely that he will slot straight into midfield due to the lack of options at the moment with Flynn Downes believed to have said farewell to his Hammers team-mates ahead of a loan move to Southampton.
Moyes rarely starts new signings straight away much to my annoyance, having a random element to the team is often a good thing.
That’s a fair assumption. Except that Ward Prowse will be ready to start by then.
Isn’t there a junior game he can play in b4 the weekend?
We all know how it will go. The starting team.will be the same as against Bournemouth. Alvarez will come on to replace Fornals on 70 minutes. Cornet may replace Benrahma at the same time
