West Ham Winger Looking to Play Musical Transfer ChairsĀ
RC Lens have contacted West Ham United regarding the availability of winger Maxwel Cornet, who is currently on loan at Southampton.
New Saints boss Ivan JuriÄ has publicly expressed his willingness for Cornet to return to West Ham. The south coast club have already reached their maximum of two domestic loan signings, and releasing the Hammers wide man from his deal would free up a slot for further recruitment this transfer window.
The Hammers are reportedly open to taking Cornet back but only on the condition that Southampton honour the loan agreement by covering the playerās wages in full.
If the two clubs can reach a settlement, thereās a chance Cornet could secure a move back to Ligue 1 in France. However, any such deal appears highly complex. Claret & Hugh have been informed by club sources that efforts to offload fringe players are ongoing.
At the moment, the valuation of the player is rock bottom with the Hammers set to lose all of the Ā£17m paid to Burnley when the Ivorian was signed. If the club can get him loaned out to a club where he is guaranteed game-time, West Ham could mitigate some of the loss.
Hopefully Cornet will return to West Ham, and Southampton pay his wages, Ward-prowse returns from Nottingham Forest. Then WP can re-sign for the Saints. He moved to West Ham remind us older Saint supporters, of Mick Channon going to Man City, at 28 and loosing his England place, only for one return at Wembley against Brazil. I actually follow, West Ham, as my second team, since 1970, as a 5 year old.
Hopefully a number Of Prem League clubs will be found guilty of Financial mis-conduct, and are relegated, and the saints miracle comes true.
on another note….
ease give a backhander to the numpty who wrote the piece about the upcomi g match against Brentford.
1: how important it will be for Fullkrug to be on his game!?!? seriously?
2: Kudus has been “brilliant” this season
really?
The only thing that must happen they must sack the stupid German who has wasted all the money
He is useless p
The only thing that’s complicated is our board
Was he really that bad? Or badly managed? Prior to coming to us wasnāt he pretty good on the left? Iād bring him back and see what he can do for us now.
We all moan about transfers , me the worst of all ..but this is seriously bad with our forward line ….they said a month or so back that a striker is top top priority…this was before fulkirg got injured…and they know the only way to get one is to pay up ….I realise we have to be careful on ffp rules but after our relatively lucky win last night Especially with the way we set up , surely this is desperate times they really need to sort this out now !….I don’t see any bids or anything.. …I know its good to keep things quiet but players are moving elsewhere…
Is it that complicated? Let him come back to West Ham but only if Lens commit to buy. A settlement with Southampton and a reduced price received from Lens doesn’t seem a bad deal considering he was such an ineffective purchase from Burnley.
Cornet was signed in August 2022 so he’ll be half amortised and worth about 8 million on the books. Southampton loaned him for the year so need to honour his wages for that year, I guess that the loan fee would be negotiable if the loan was cut short. I can’t see why we’d take him back until the end of the loan unless there was a sale agreed elsewhere or unless a longer loan could be arranged elsewhere. Cornet is about minimising ongoing costs while his value reduces on the books.
