Anderson analysis …it’s getting better all the time

|

After picking up some great form in recent weeks CandsH PlayerWatch reporter Danny Leach put  marquee man Felipe Anderson  under the spotlight last night. Here’s his up close and personal look at his game against Cardiff City which shows the Brazilian at the heart of the action.

1 – A through ball to Arnautovic played on the outside boot down the left wing is intercepted
7 – Plays a rapid one two on the edge of the box with Arnautovic who lays the ball for Snodgrass who has his shot blocked
9 – Dribbles down the wing and takes on the opposition right back to cross on his left but the ball is headed away. He has another chance to cross the ball in again as the ball comes back out to him but the cross is blocked.
11 – Rice lays the ball on the edge of the box and Anderson takes a shot on his left foot which is blocked again
15 – Plays a first time through ball to Arnautovic in the box who tries to lob the keeper
36 – Plays a through ball to Arnautovic but pulls up as he is chasing the ball due to a muscular injury
39 – Chases the ball on the left wing and he is tripped by an opposition player as he reaches the ball
44 – Masuaku gives him the ball but he is tackled as soon as he controls it
49 – GOAL – 1-0 – He blitzes past 3 players to get down the wing with the ball before passing it to Snodgrass on the edge of the box who finds Perez who finishes the ball in the net
53 – What should have been a simple 8 yard pass to Rice goes straight to an opposition player
58 – Intercepts the ball on the wing after a poor pass and starts a hammers counter attack by finding Chicharito in the middle of the park who supports him. However it subsequently breaks down
61 – Controls the ball with his first touch and rapidly spins and plays Masuaku on the left wing with a deadly through ball on his second touch
75 – Nutmegs an opposition player with such ease and leaving him in total confusion
80 – Plays a through ball into the box for Diangana after receiving the ball from Rice on  the edge of the box but Diangana’s touch takes it just out of play
84 – Takes on a player on the left wing beating him for pace but the cross is blocked
89 – Rolls the ball across his body before playing a through ball to Perez on the left wing but ends up in a dead end and is tackled

Verdict – 7.5A very good outing by Anderson who contributed greatly to the teams win. He grew as the game progressed and was increasingly involved in some sensational play with the midfield and attack playing many incisive through balls cutting the Cardiff defence. His movement was also exceptional tonight drawing the full backs in and out of the wings constantly and his involvement for our first goal was critical in the build up. Despite giving the ball away on a few occasions, overall it was a substantial performance by the Brazilian.
