Anderson gives Pelle all the credit

Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham arrival has changed many things at West Ham United from the advent of academy products to the biggest ever transfer splash last summer.

And one player who knows what he owes the Chilean manager in bringing him to the club is record £35 million signing Felipe Anderson.

There can be no doubt that the guy can frustrate but when he is on his game he’s as good a player as we’ve seen in that position at our club.

The stats show that he has started all 31 Premier League games under Pellegrini, scoring eight goals, registering four assists and embarking on 125 dribbles.

That’s the fourth-highest in the Premier League behind Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Southampton’s Nathan Redmond.

And having made no secret of the fact that his lifetime dream is to represent Brazil he knows precisely who is responsible for him being called up during this international break – Pellegrini.

He told www.whufc.com:“I’ve always said that it was a dream to go to the national team. The coach (Pellegrini) gave me his trust to play constantly, to get into a rhythm and I’m very happy and excited to get there and be with my national teammates.”

Anderson was capped at U17 and U20 level before representing Brazil at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, where he won a Gold Medal playing alongside the likes of Neymar, Rafinha and Gabriel Jesus.

This summer, Brazil plays host to the South American continental championship, the Copa America, and the 25-year-old would love nothing more than to be involved in a big tournament in his homeland again.

He added: “This is the first time I have worked with this staff so I have to go and play well and take it one day at a time.”
