Anger as Pellegrini demands more from Haller

Manuel Pellegrini did himself no favours with his comments about wanting more from Sebastien Haller in his press conference earlier today.
The manager claimed that he wanted to see him operating in the box more which appeared to overlook the absence of much midfield creativity giving him that opportunity over the last two games.
And that brought an immediate response from ClaretandHugh website followers who clearly thought his comments were unfair and misdirected.
Here’s some random responses:
O Some of Pelligrini’s pre and  post match statements are extremely frustrating for me. With regards expecting Haller to improve more ….. really?  The young man works tirelessly  every week to make things happen for himself. Unlike other teams whose midfielders and wingers feed their centre-forward with grand assists, West Ham tolerate inefficiency in this regard and expect more from the centre forward.
Please Pelligini … please rather sort out your team selection and favourite lazy and overpaid players.
Not sure if some of Pellegrini’s comments lose something in translation or he is just losing the plot. Considering this is Haller’ s first few games at a new club and a new league to boot he has been our stand out player along with Yarmolenko.
O Sorry Pelle but you need to lay into the rest of the team not the poor guy you have ploughing a lone furrow up top with precious little help from anybody.
O I think maybe the pressure is getting to MP. Time for some of the ‘true grit’ some reckoned we were displaying against Villa and Bournemouth. I wasn’t convinced then and certainly didn’t see much against Palace and Everton. Forget playing Noble in an advanced position as Rice can’t do it all himself. Give Holland a go and put Anderson in behind Haller. With Lanzini misfiring, I’d give him a rest. Didn’t see enough from Fornals or Wilshere to merit a place on the bench. But COYI!!!
O We want more from Pellegrini. Haller can’t deliver the goods, if he is isolated up front.

  1. We need to drop Anderson.
He is not very good in crossing the ball.
And he always seems to go backwards instead of attacking.

    • I would not say he’s been our second best player. Started well…. And agree his service has been abysmal but he has been lazy at times plus his hold up play ain’t been the greatest. I agree with Pelle…. I want to see more from a 45m player. However he can’t perform miracles and needs at least some supply. Only Rice and Yarmolenko from MF can hold their heads high. Rest need to look at themselves.

  2. Haller has been living on scraps. On the odd occasion we have delivered a ball into the danger area he has converted the chance. I can’t really remember him missing anything. Our supply line to him has been abysmal. He runs his socks off every week, unlike some, but still draws criticism from the manager. This seems to be very selective when other (favoured?) players have been much more blame worthy. Instead of giving him stick give him some help. Revert to 442. we cannot be any worse off and it may just be the spark we need.

  3. I think we need more team play , attack and defend as a team . The midfield are to far from Haller to support him we need more from the whole team . COYI ⚒
