Antonio admits Hammers have been a “shambles”

|

Michail Antonio has been discussing the Hammers recent form and it makes something of a mockery of David Moyes’ explanations about what may or may not have gone wrong.

He can’t deny his own part in the problems having been out of form for some time and not finding the net since August 26 but there’s a good reason to listen to what he has to say.

The striker has been making some very frank admissions and predictions on his Footballer’s Football Podcast show and this week’s offering is no different as he looks at the awful Hammers form over the past three games.

All sorts of reasons why have been put forward but the 33 year old simply makes it clear that the performances have been nothing short of a shambles.

It seems unlikely that he will be involved tonight against Arsenal but is determined the team improves when he plays again.

He told his show: “The team has been a bit of a shambles. Last three games, three losses, we’ve not really been performing at all. We’ve been a bit all over the place. It’s not the standard we set from the beginning of the season. I just take it as a bit of a slump. Hopefully we can come back from it in the next couple of games.

I can’t really put it down to Everton. They played well. I just don’t think we performed well enough. I don’t think we kept the ball well enough, when we had the ball we kept giving it away. Our performances have been slack over the last week.”

Antonio has thrown down a goals coring challenge and hopes to catch his mate Callum Wilson who has seven and appears on the show with him.

Antonio added: “I need something. Let’s go for it. I need something to push me now.”

“I can’t really put it down to Everton. They played well.” Rubbish. They didn’t. We were just so bad, so clueless that we gifted them the three points. It wasn’t a pretty game to watch. As for Antonio, it would be more help if he let his football do the talking rather than his mouth.

Antonnio shouldn’t need Wilson to challenge him to play better. He should, as anyone playing, be up for it after winning cup last season and playing a level up in Europe and trying to end up in top 6 at least in Prem. That should be incentive enough, else let acadomy players get a chance.
