Antonio door still open to Southgate

Mikey Antonio has NOT been included in Jamaica’s international squad, meaning he remains in with a chance of playing for England!

There had been plenty of reports claiming that the striker was set to switch his allegiance to the Caribbean nation.

But they have just named their squad for a game against the USA and Antonio is not in it, per the BBC.

Jamaica have picked players based in England, including Watford’s Andre Gray and Reading’s Liam Moore, but Mikey has been left alone.

Antonio, of course, has twice been called up to the England squad but has yet to make his full debut, meaning he remains eligible for Jamaica because his parents were born in the country.

It remains to be seen if Jamaica will attempt to make another bid to convince Antonio, as they can continue to consider him for selection until he wins a first cap for England.

As it stands, though, he remains eligible for both countries, with Euro 2020 looming…

  1. Go get him Gareth. Fit him in your team. Goodness knows there is a place available for this quality player. Never has been a question of replacing Kane or other centre forward. Michail Antonio can play any position on the field. He is a specialist footballer not a manufactured position. Go on Gareth. Be bold. Become a hero manager. Select Michail.
