Antonio dropped for being late to meeting

David Moyes has revealed Michail Antonio was dropped from the West Ham squad for the draw with Crystal Palace due to disciplinary reasons.

The Hammers boss confirms Antonio had been consistently late for meetings and training leaving the Scotsman with no choice but to withdraw him from the squad tonight.

Moyes told reporters “For disciplinary reasons he wasn’t involved tonight, he turned up late this morning for a meeting and it wasn’t the first time so I am not having it at the club. I have said right from the start what it is going to be like. It’s too often so I didn’t involve him tonight otherwise I would have probably tried to get him on the bench. He’s apologised”

  1. At last a manager with a spine at the club.
He’s going to sort out some of these wasters, and at long last give some of them a kick up the …..

  2. Good to see some discipline being dished out by Moyes.

    • Another one who appears to think his bollock size is larger than his actual ability.
Hopefully, being disciplined (publicly), we’ll see the real Antonio again.
      Wouldn’t hold my breath though.

  3. Rightly so. I don’t know what’s up with him but he’s not half the player he was. Has he just been unlucky with injuries? However, the sinic in me would question if that’s coincided with signing a big contract. On the odd occasion he has played e.g. Newcastle, his body language was awful.

  4. I would say on the back of last season when Nobes seemed to be off his game, we were all unaware of the injury he was carrying which in turn was diluting his usual hearty performances. Perhaps Antonio is suffering the same thing this season as you have rightly pointed out that he doesn’t appear to be the same player from last season.
Time will tell once he’s back on the pitch and playing regular if the big contract has blurred his concentration. Hopefully the disciplinary action taken by Moyes yesterday has helped him to focus more and get back in to the West Ham way.

  5. Unfortunately he seems to have his head turned. Needs to get back to basics and start to perform on the pitch again, because this year he has been well below par.
Maybe he thinks he is too good for us now?

  6. Injury and getting blanked by southgate may be 2 things that has been the problem ! His confidence has taken knock ! Needs to steel up , stick 2 fingers up to south gate and concentrate on west ham ! IMHO he’s not international class but Avery strong individual and club player on his day !
Bilic had a hand in his form as well 😉
