Antonio explains Matrix goal celebration

Sunday’s goal was Antonio’s sixth goal against Spurs which is more goals than any other club in the Premier League.

Antonio typically did an iconic goal celebration after scoring, re-enacting a famous scene from the Hollywood blockbuster film The Matrix.

After the match, Antonio tweeted: “Must be a glitch in the Matrix, I’m getting deja vu! Another big big win!!!!!”

Speaking to Sky Sports, he added: “Well, last week I put a picture up on Instagram marked ‘AntoNEO’ and it went well to be fair so I thought ‘you know what I’m going to have to do it today!’

When I was doing it I worried someone was going jump on me and I’d tear my ACL. Someone pulled me up before they jumped on me so it was decent.”

Kurt Zouma had a very worried look on his face as he was concerned that Antonio could pull a hamstring during his celebration.

The former Chelsea defender who received the West Ham man of the match for the game rushed to aid to soften his fall to the pitch to tell him down gently to ensure West Ham only striker didn’t pull anything.
