Antonio for Spurs clash update

Michail Antonio is fully expected to be fit and available for the game against Spurs on Sunday lunch time.

It’s a game which gives us the chance to go nine points clear of Mourinho’s mob currently four places beneath us in ninth position.

We have learned that Mikey was within a hair’s breadth of playing last night but continued to feel mild tightness in the hamstring.

And with other options available the manager and medical staff agreed that it would be best to give him  few more days with most experts agreeing rest is the best approach to take towards such injuries.

However, his involvement against Spurs looks nailed on although Moysie may spring a surprise and start him on the bench given the success of Jarrod Bowen and Jesse Lingard up front last night.

All players came through last night’s game against Sheffield United without further issues on the injury front.

  1. Wouldnt be tempted to start him at the weekend. Give him the last 20-30 mins definitely. Especially if we find ourselves in a position where we are chasing the game. Think the front 3 last night did well. But would potentially change Lanzini for Benrahma.

  2. Then come the weekend we get told that he’s ‘Felt tightness in his hamstring so has been left out as a precaution.’ And this daft nonsense continues to the next game.

  3. Would definetly start him. I feel it would be harder tfor hm to come and get i nto the pace of the game from the bench, let Spurs worry about him Benrhama and Lingard . Better to attack Spurs with a good back up behind him. Think we will be 4 at the back which means Johnson being left out which is a pity. I actually feel Johnson could step into the role next to Rice and Soucek if we want to tighten it up. Provides pace and stength instead of Noble.
Let’s get a lead and go 2 up rather than sit on a 0-0 or 1-0.

  4. The tightness in his hamstring could just be muscle strain but now the lads paranoid about his hamstrings. Who could blame him but it means he now has to overcome the mental side of things as well as the physical. It’s a shame because it’s the explosive power of Mickey that makes him the player he is and it’s hard to play like that with dodgy hamstrings.
