West Ham striker Michail Antonio is flying to Dubai today to continue his rehabilitation following his Ferrari crash last December. He will spend a fortnight at a specialist rehab training facility in Dubai, where West Ham have an existing arrangement. Fellow Hammer Niclas Füllkrug is already undergoing treatment at the same facility.
Antonio is set to return to the UK on 20th February and will be a guest of honour at the London Stadium for West Ham’s clash against Leicester City, where he will greet the fans before kick-off.
Everyone will be massively relieved to welcome Mikey back to East London following the shocking crash that left fans anxiously awaiting updates.
Fortunately, West Ham’s all-time Premier League top scorer is well on his way to recovery and in good spirits, having returned home from hospital in time for Christmas.
Antonio has just five months remaining on his current West Ham contract, although the club hold an option to extend it for an additional year.
Let’s get real folks. Neither Fullkrug or Antonio will ever play for West Ham again! They are merely receiving treatment & pampering, before being retired to live out a continuous life of luxury. ☘️⚒️
Is his contract going to be renewed at 35 and coming back from something like this ?
This was not an injury on the pitch, it was crashing a second supercar.
It would seem more likely that it won’t be.
Agree 100%, he wouldn’t be getting a contract from me. Completely different to the Ogbonna situation a couple of years ago when he was badly injured in the call of duty.
Crashing his supercar into a tree (for the second time) doesn’t deserve any sort if sympathy.
He smashed his leg in a car crash silly stupid yes but he’s given his all to West Ham and some comments to me sum up all that’s wrong with football these days
I would have said precisely the same thing back in 1969 at my first game, that’s because it’s true.
Well said Mr Down Under
ps/ it’s wet and old up top – enough to make you whinge
I’n getting good at typos. I may be wet and old, but the weather’s wet and c-c-c-cold
You Poms can be a bit on the whingy side, especially when it comes to the owners.
But, seriously, credit where it’s due (to the board).
Micky has 5 months left of his contract, and will likely be at a point in his recovery to return to first team training around then.
Even if he hadn’t had the accident, would the board have extended his contract? I doubt it.
Still, they are spending the money and giving him every chance to make a full recovery, and keep his career going for just that bit longer, and at the end of it (the recovery), he can walk away on a free.
That’s a bit of class from the club. Yes, they have a duty of care, but they needn’t be sending him to the best, providing the best… but they are.
Sully annoys the sh1t out of us, but at the same time he and the other Dave saved the club from financial ruin.
Sully has ploughed millions into transfers, that if he didn’t get involved in, we’d likely be competing for the Champions League.
Hopefully Potter can keep the millions coming, but keep the Sully out of the decision making.
Either way, it would be good to see Micky bulling a defender or two again soon.
