Antonio reckons his hamstrings are in better shape

|

Mikey Antonio has held out hope that his hamstring problems are greatly improved as the worries grow among fans over his continuing fitness.

The No 9 has looked in fine form and was in particularly great form against Newcastle when he was most people’s man of the match.

He looked in terrific nick finding the net and he is hoping that there is a real possibility he may hold up this season thanks to something as simple as diet!

With international duty on his agenda alongside the Premier League and Europa League it’s a very big season for the squad and Mikey in particular.

And it was great to hear him sounding so positive about the way things are going when he spoke on  Sky Sports Gillette Soccer Saturday (August 21st, 2:01pm).

Admitting he hasn’t always been the best of eaters in the past he reckons he is now in much better shape after adopting a new approach to food.

He said: “I’ve come to realise that I’m no longer the young pup that I used to be. I kept believing that I was. There were certain things in life I was doing that I could have been better with. I used to eat what I wanted, I wasn’t the best eater.

Now I’ve changed my diet and routine of life. And I’ve noticed since I changed my diet I’ve had less niggles and I’ve not felt my hamstrings at all.”
