Antonio reckons Irons close to turning form around

Mikey and the lads celebrate the Chelsea win

Michail Antonio believes the Irons are close to turning their form around and is hoping he’ll be fit to play his part in that tonight.

Although a decision will not be taken until just before the game the battling Hammer has admitted “hopefully I’ll be ready.”

As revealed in ClaretandHugh over the last couple of days the ’emergency striker’ has admitted he felt a minor groin problem and given his recent injury decided against being involved against Wolves.

The need is urgent tonight as the Hammers hunt for the goals to lift them away from the relegation zone and Mikey  showed in the  game against Spurs and Chelsea that he can be very much the main man.

Indeed there was a famous moment after the game when Mourinho headed in his direction  and asked him with a big smile whether he wanted to move to White Hart Lane in January.

The answer is self evident – the man is going nowhere and we all have our fingers crossed that he will turn things on against the other north Londoners tonight.

Commenting at https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2019/december/08-december/antonio-were-close-turning-our-form-around he said: “I played 75 minutes last Saturday, which was the most I played all season, including pre-season, so coming back from three months out injured it was just a bit too much for my body [to play again at Wolves].

“I felt a little tweak in my groin, but it’s feeling good now.

“Injuries are part and parcel of the game, but I’ve always played a good chunk of the games every year.

“I’ve always been good with dealing with it, so I take it and make sure I come back fitter and stronger.”

“I think we’re close to turning it around. I could see lots of potential in our performance at Wolves. We were creating, moving and getting balls into the box, but it just didn’t happen for us.

We have to be better on our set plays because we’ve conceded too many goals from them, but other than that I can see lots of positives.

“I feel we’re playing better than we were before Tottenham, but we’ve got to be more consistent with it.

“The only three teams that are really performing are Liverpool, Leicester and Man City.

“Everyone else is getting beaten, and it means we’ve had a missed opportunity so far this season. We started the season off brightly, the best start we’ve had for four years, but then we’ve had a slump. Everyone’s having a slump and this is our slump. Now it’s time for us to start turning up.

“We’ve been in this situation before and we know how to dig in and pull ourselves up again.”

  1. No chance – we’re simply not good enough!
Give the ball away all the time, pedestrian in possession, don’t close down, can’t defend and can’t attack.

  2. Must have been watching a different Wolves game to me.

  3. The only positive to take out of that game Against Wolves is that we need to improve !! .by a country mile .
We are constantly going one yard forward and two yards back . We all love the driving force Antonio provides but , if he has to be the only person we can rely on then it’s a sad situation .
Having said that ; I still believe the night will be Ours with another and much needed three points on the board . Tonight against Arsenal is a must win game without any shadow of doubt . With a clean sheet would be preferable . I think we will do it , or at least not lose .

  4. I wish they wouldnt come out with these silly comments.Could have played all week and not scored with that setup at Wolves.3 points is a MUST tonight, nothing else will do ,then maybe some us us will just start believing a bit again.

  5. Now there trying the fans favourite to talk there way out of this circus..
AGAIN nothing will change until he goes
If we scrape a win tonight it will just prolong the agony..

  6. I just want to see them work hard , close down don’t let them settle . Want loads of effort would be nice for us fans to beat the Gunners . COYI⚒
