Michail Antonio is set to take a final fitness test before the squad travels to Sheffield for their match against the Blades this weekend.
The player has been checkeddaily during his recovery process this week but the medics are determined to ensure there is absolutely no danger to him aggravating his hamstring injury by returning to action too early.
And with the squad having done well in his absence there is one lobby that believes it may be a good idea to give the striker another week to recover and allowing him to step up for the Villa match.
David Moyes will be guided by their final advice but we understand the player will be put through a test before the squad for the Blades match is named.
The club is giving little clue on injured players these days following a clampdown on leaks by the manager but it clearly makes sense that Mikey is to put through a late test at Rush Green.
Yesterday he was available..
YESTERDAY AS EVERY OTHER DAY IF YOU READ CAREFULLY HE WAS BEING CHECKED BY MEDICS. HOPES REMAIN HIGH BUT THERE ARE NO GIVENS IN FOOTBALL AS YOU WOULD KNOW sigh
I would give him this week off and then hes sure to be 100% fit for the villa game test or no test . Give haller another go he might have gained a bit of confidence and sharpness after his international run out or drop haller to the bench give benrahma his first start and play the front three as a false three .
Completely agree, Hugh. One lobby may be correct but, in the final analysis, David will decide. Just great news that Michail will be back soon.

No need to risk Ogbonna or Antonio against Sheffield United and I’m sure Dave Moyes would see it the same way. Definitely a squad game.
