Antonio set to return at Leicester

Michail Antonio is expected to be in the squad which travels to Leicester City on Wednesday evening.

Not for the first time, the player has been sidelined after returning from injury probably a little too quickly but he will be in full training again this week after being understood to have joined the squad on Friday.

We were told by a London Stadium insider that he was very likely to be named in the match day squad which would see him start on the bench.

However, there is going to be no return for Felipe Anderson who is predicted to be on the sidelines for the next two to three weeks having sustained a back injury in the match at Bramall Lane in the 0-1 defeat by Sheffield United.

Our source revealed: “We of course have to be careful with Michail but he looks likely to be involved – Felipe is out for two or three games sadly.”

  1. Ffs leave him on the bench if he travels with. We can’t risk another injury to him. As it stands it doesn’t look like we’re going to get anyone new in the window. It’s not a be all/end all game.

  2. Ffs Russell look at the table it don’t lie!!every game is a potential be all game from now on in.
I appreciate your point if he aint reafy don’t take him and with no.’play maker ‘ie Anderson we do.need a bit of cut and thrust coz Leicester can defend well.so we are going to need a bit of something from someone or somewhere to get any thingfrom them IMHO..

  3. This is all we are going to hear between now and the window closing, imo. We would rather gamble by rushing players back too soon than spend any money to avoid relegation.

  4. Priority is a CM, then a striker and then a RB but saying this I thought Zaba had a greta game yesterday – what a difference it is to have a full back who can pass the ball. I would love to see us go 3-5-2 against Leicester. I f Antonio was fit start him up top, if not start Ajeti and bring Antonio on though be sure he gets a proper warm up. I would play 3 of which two must be Rice and Fornals. I don’t get the criticism of Lanzini (back from a bad injury the more game time he gets the better he will get). I think Noble has to go and the longer he keeps him in the side the bigger the trouble we are going to find ourselves in. He can certainly bring something with 20 mins to go. I would play a back 3 of Diop, Reid and Ogbonna. Diop and Ogbonna have to be the wide CBs as they have the pace. Reid is a leader and could easily do a good job in between. Lets not play Cresswell in a back 3 again.
