So it was another point, this time to the poorest team in the League.
Yesterday’s draw means we have slipped into tenth place with Arsenal’s 4-0 conquerors Southampton arriving at the Boleyn tomorrow .
Here’s how random Irons fans have reacted on the ClaretandHugh forum and Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/363174467150521/
O It was not good, but too many fans are going a little over the top! Just can’t believe how nothing seemed to go right, it was good to see Aaron Cresswell score as he seems to have lost all confidence. and it was a superb goal. But we seem to have no strikers hungry at the moment, and you see someone like Kane scoring his 25th goal in 2015, we can only dream of figures like that sadly.
O Even without Payet, Lanzini, Shako and Moses, one would expect West Ham to do a little better than this. The front line of Zarate, Valencia and Antonio looked completely toothless and incapable of breaking down the Aston Villa defence, despite the pace and skill those players are supposed to possess. To me, Antonio is a decidedly average player with little ability to get pass Premier League defenders, let alone scoring – that’s on the basis on watching him in the last few games.
We were awful. Forget the penalties, they are part of football .
We were second to every ball and if it wasn’t for Collins we would have lost .
Obviously we are missing players, but that excuse is wearing very thin.
We should have been better than Villa, and we weren’t. In fact we looked like a relegation team .
O Agree with you that Antonio doesnt have what it takes to cut it in the PL. He runs about like a headless chicken, with no end product.
As for Noble, he kills any forward momentum we have by taking his time whenever he gets on the ball after which he inevitably passes it sideways or backwards. ln short, he stands in our way, and that is precisely what he did today.
l dont care how many accolades he gets. He is a liability and is the captain solely cause he is from Canning town not because he deserves it. His shortcomings are not so obvious when he is sorrounded by our better flair players, but are highlighted in their absence.
O Don’t mean to be a spoil sport but I think we have to accept that without payet, lanzini and sakho all we have is a good championship side sorry to the rest but they can’t handle the pressure, where do we go from here god only knows but we need to stop the slide to retain any respect we have built from earlier so far this year. Happy new year all. An old hammer .
O We are not Real Madrid its EPL and craziest season I remember so far.
O Villa were the home side fighting for their lives what did we expect they would roll over?
We are unbeaten in 5 and don’t get beat even when half our team is injured, the post is daft and contradictory just to get the reactions you see above. We have had a great first half of a season we should be celebrating it could be a lot worse ask chelski fans. A solid performance v saints hopefully 3 points and then it’s the 2nd half of the season
Nonsense article (again) from this site. Very harsh on Antonio, the lad’s played 3 prem games and youre writing him off. And a championship side !!?? what about Cresswell, Tomkins, Kouyate, Song, Zarate, Reid … Im sure they’d love to be called c’ship players. This website writes the most ridiculous pointless articles, 1 in 10 in worth reading when DG feeds Hugh with some info, otherwise avoid avoid avoid
Open eyes time !!!!
People clearly see a different game being played ?
Some need to take the c& b specs off !
Its obvious noble is and has not been on blob for quite a while now and zarate has super glue on his boots and never ever tracks back .
Kouyate is tired and needs a break! Our problem is the m/f at present and needs tweeking
But were in a catch 22 at present with no immediate solutions !
Let’s see what happens on Monday !!
Antonio runs at defences with little end product but the last few games it seems his the only player running at them with along with zarate…Everyone else is lost or supporting defence. Since tomkins has been full back goals concended / clean sheets have improved yes…. but our full backs are not contributing to attacking plays bar cresswells goal v villa.! Kouyate has missed an awful lot of chances to win us games but still is my standout midfielder.
Most PL teams not likely to be challenging for the title are reasonably content with a point away from home. I don’t necessarily agree with that contentment but we can’t say that SB doesn’t give it a go, home or away. I agree that Allardyce would have been more than happy and the home draw with Stoke is not exactly a disaster, they’re looking pretty useful.
I think the early results have got a lot of people a bit carried away and it’s a bit harsh to single out players who have a below par game. Kouyate’s been superb all season and I can’t agree with slagging off Nobes and Zarate. There were a few **** performances yesterday and we really struggled to pass the ball and keep it but a good result tomorrow and we’ll be back on track. As for Antonio, f*ck me, give the bloke a chance, he’s never played in the PL before now and only had a couple of starts. I’ve seen enough of him for Forest to believe he’ll be an excellent signing. I always find solace by remembering recent seasons under Allardyce and how **** I felt week in and week out listening to that ****, Bilic is different class and he’ll do us proud – COYI
Wrong to blame Antonio !!
Noble kouyate and zarate are the culprits for our inability to attack and defend in m/f .
Cullen needs a chance as does oxford as they are both attacking and defencively able ,
They will not let us down I’m sure , I have watched these two and they have it in them to do
well ,
Correct last week it was Jelavic,
Noble has been really poor most of the season so why not give Callum or Oxford his starting spot,
Antonio has so far only played with a team struggling but at least he runs at people and works hard,
Next game will show in this strange season how far we have come
Last year all I heard was respect the point and we never managed to hang on to most of them, now the same people are moaning,if Hippo was in charge it would have been seen as a good point won
Don’t think it’s right slagging the players, of the above mentioned Antonio has a lot to learn and like Noble, Obiang and Zarate, wouldn’t make the team sheet to start if everyone else was fit, however, they are decent squad players that are holding the for until the cavalry turn up and General Slaven is doing his best with what he has at his ‘affordable’ troops, as for young Antonio I’d be tempted to put him out loan with one of the lower premiership teams to give him a bit of this leagues experience , he was awesome in the championship and needs to take a step up
Holding the fort⚒
