No words of praise are high enough for Michail Antonio – competitor, athlete and one very determined guy!
He came up the hard way from a background which clearly taught him to be an over comer and it has folowed him through his professional career.
Too many tend to moan and groan about the downside of the game – which critically involves injuries – but the Hammers midfielder/striker takes them for what they are – part of the game.
He’s due back for the Spurs quad – as revealed exclusively on here a few days ago – and in his first interview for the official site since his injury – has spoken about his hopes as he faces up to the rest of the season.
Speaking at https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2019/november/08-november/antonio-im-buzzing-be-training-again he said: “I’m buzzing to be back out there training and hopefully I can get back in and help the boys move up the league.
“It has been very frustrating, especially as I was getting my form as I got injured, so hopefully I can pick up where I left off.
“Injuries are part of the game, they’re going to happen – it’s just how you deal with them and how you come back.”
Before Antonio returns to the fold, the Hammers face a trip to Burnley and the No 30 believes it is a matter of fine margins going his team’s way to turn their form around.
He explained: “In the Crystal Palace game we had lots of opportunities and their keeper pulled off some unbelievable saves. Sheffield United was similar – they had a couple of opportunities, but we had more and if they had hit the back of the net we’d have six points.
“That’s the difference, the ball’s not been hitting the back of the net. Right now, we just have to make sure we’re being ruthless and keep the ball out of our half.”
