Anxiety as Saturday comes!

So another anxious Saturday arrives with the fans looking at the fixtures of teams around us! Not good…really not good and we are all sick of it.

Thus far we have been very fortunate in that none of the relegation threatened teams did us any harm in the so called winter break.

We shouldn’t be having to do this but of course it’s the most natural reaction in the game when a team is in such bother.

On the face of it things don’t look TOO frightening today but at some stage one of those in the danger one are likely to hit a run of form and we’d better hope and pray it’s not today with us at Liverpool on Monday evening.

Bournemouth are at Burnley,  Brighton are at Sheffield United, and Aston Villa at Southampton.

Anything can happen and mine is that the Cherries may collect a point and the other two are beaten. But who knows?

Moyes can’t complain about how things have gone on that front andhad better start getting results very soon.

  1. Yep ; that’s the sad reality of it . It’s come down to hoping our nearest premier league rivals all have bad days . And those teams know we have Liverpool on Monday and have a great chance to leave us stranded . Really starting now to fear the worst . The only positive is that those around us have games coming up against City & Liverpool to look forward to .

    • they have all got Man Utd , and the top 6 to play against, we have a decent run in, just look at the others matches and you will see that they are in a worse position than us, hope springs eternal

      • It’s something all Hammers fans are very familiar with.I am almost resigned to relegation and the shining light on the horizon is the great young players coming through the U23s and U18s.

  2. Well could not have hoped for more as it turned out. If the (probably) inevitable happens on Monday we won’t be a lot worse off but we have to start winning. Saints now must be safe. That could drive them on, but we certainly have more to play for than them.

  3. The way we are playing without an attacking threat all of our games look frightening. The team need to dig out probably 9 points to be safe presuming that Norwich don’t have a stunning burst of form. Bournemouth have on paper the worst run in but you never know with them. Moyes should change gears and go all out for wins 4 wins should be more than enough although I think 3 teams will struggle to get more than 32 points those being Norwich, Villa, Bournemouth, then there is Watford who could equally struggle based on current form.

  4. Apart from Brighton getting a point the other results were good for us – but the bottom line is that we still need to get the points

There was an interesting point about the worth of our bench against Man City. This was to point out how defensive Moyes was and that is true – but it also pointed to the skewed recruitment policy over the last few seasons – many on here have been saying that we need to invest in a decent defensive midfielder and some fullbacks – instead we largely invested in creative players – while we should be more attacking, I think that it is impossible to include all of Haller, Fornals, Bowen, Anderson, Antonio, Yarmolenko, Snoddgrass and Lanzini in the same team – and we dont have the same numbers in the defensive positions
