Massive Paqueta risk on the cards if Moyes gambles for win
Sources close to Lucas Paqueta are concerned that the player will be rushed back ahead of schedule to face Brentford on Monday. With West Ham seemingly sliding down the table, manager David Moyes could be tempted to risk the player for the crucial Premier League clash.
The Hammers have a run of three games against Brentford, Everton, and Burnley, with under-pressure Moyes desperately needing a win. Unfortunately, West Ham have been unable to win games without Paqueta, so the Irons’ gaffer may select the Brazilian ahead of schedule.
Claret & Hugh were told exclusively by sources close to the player that he was two weeks away from full fitness. Whilst Paqueta has resumed tentative training at Rush Green, it would be viewed as “risky” for Moyes to hurry him back for the Brentford game.
Of course, the temptation for Moyes to play his creative wizard will be huge. However, the last time he was rushed back, Paqueta lasted only 13 minutes and has not been seen since. With Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen enduring their worst form of the season, the return of the Brazilian can’t come soon enough.
Our source said: The player doesn’t believe he is ready and would be worried were to be put on the bench with the aim of playing even 1o minutes.
He needs another fortnight but the risk is there for the manager and massive given how badly he needs three points.
Surely Paqueta can just declare himself unavailable if he’s not ready, Aguerd stylee pre AfCon.
