Alphonse Areola could look to leave West Ham if he does not get more opportunities, according to a new report.
L’Equipe claims that the goalkeeper wants to play at the World Cup in 2022 but that his current predicament means he is unlikely to work his way into the France squad.
Areola has been used primarily as a cup goalkeeper since his arrival on loan from PSG and has played in the Europa League and the EFL Cup.
However, he has yet to start a Premier League game, suggesting that he is firmly seen as the No.2 at the London Stadium behind Lukasz Fabianski.
And the new report in France claims that he could well begin to look for a new club where he can play regularly if he is not given a chance to shine in the league across the next few weeks and months.
It is not clear if there is a recall option in his contract for PSG but the Hammers have the option to buy him at the end of the season.
Fair enough. Another position that wasn’t really a huge priority that we spent money (large loan fee) on. Given his age it would make sense to bed him in as a long term keeper, but Moyes is happy with Fab despite the fact he’ll probably only play a couple more years at most and his undoubted quality will only drop as he ages.
