Arnie bidders revealed and it’s not Shangai SIPG

Here’s where Arnautovic wants to start, what’s likely to be, the last chapter of his footballing life.

The Chinese club bidding to take Marko Arnautovic to the orient has turned out to be Guangzhou and not as believed Shanghai SIPG according to The Guardian.

West Ham writer Jacob Steinberg has reported the newspaper has been told by sources on both sides of the deal that Guangzhou were the real bidders and represented the Arnautovic’s preferred destination.

And the story adds that it would mean him earning £40m over a four-year contract, a large upgrade on his West Ham wage of £90,000 a week.

As has been widely reported the club wanted a fee of £50m but  Guangzhou have not returned with a second offer and Shanghai are yet to enter the bidding for Arnautovic, whose head has been turned by the wages on offer.

ClaretandHugh says: This saga can only have one ending – Arnautovic’s departure and given the spirit engendered into the Hammers squad over recent games it really can’t come a minute too soon BUT ONLY AT THE RIGHT PRICE. Arnie has demonstrated at both Stoke and now with us that his approach to life is all about him and prompted by a brother who seems to be focused on little else than money this problem will raise its head over and over again. Marko’s problem is that he actually believes himself to be a lot better than he is –  demonstrated by the fact that whilst showing the best form of his career none of the seriously big world clubs have shown any interest whatsoever. Given that his boisterous brother claimed he can play for any of them, that it should be Guangzhou who are the only show in town makes such a claim entirely laughable. It would come as no surprise to see the Arnie go on a West Ham strike. Get rid Irons, he’s not one of the greats and can wreck the team spirit with his moaning and groaning.

  1. No player is bigger than the club Hugh , but you have to give praise to the team for sticking together . It does not appear to be affecting them and it sure in hell is not ruffing pellegrini, who concentrated on the team rather than individuals . Come on lads you can win tomorrow . COYI

  2. Unfortunately Armie (no spelling mistake) and his sibling are only in it for the money plus his nose is a bit out of joint as he is no longer topdog at the club and this is hurting his pride. He is the biggest drama queen though – remember when he hurt his thumb and was rolling around like he had been shot?

Recent results have shown that there is life beyond him and the club is on a roll upwards with or without him.

Yes he has scored some important goals for us and thank him for his efforts which have been well rewarded, but I do not want anyone to think they are more important than the club.

I think we are running out of time to let him go and get a recognised striker in but h

  3. Good piece.

I hope they do not play him whilst this is ongoing.

He should have stayed at Stoke for all The China Cups he could ever wish for!

  4. We learnt a valuable lesson with Payet and the club is the most important thing.Hard to see how Arnoutovic can continue but luckily we have a very experienced and canny manager who has seen it all.Things could not be better as far as our position in the league goes and rather than alienating him and making him train with the youths like a naughty schoolboy its right that he has been removed from the matchday squad.I think a bigger offer will come and he will go and hopefully Pelle has a list of replacements as we cannot wait till Summer on this one.Greed has ruined many a good career. How much money does a person need?.China is a cash cow for players past their best and he still has a lot to offer so from a playing point of view its a huge career ending backward step almost .Still he can reflect on the waste of his talents as he sits in his counting house in years to come.Unlike money once your best playing years are gone their is no getting them back.

  5. What a surprise Arnoutovic has shown a sulking attitude on the training ground as soon as he hasn’t got what he wants. I said last week he calls the shots not his brother who is just a glove puppet. Pellegrini has done the best thing get him out the way we don’t need him upsetting team spirit and focus on tomorrows match. We have wo games without him this season we have players who can score goals in various positions and not rely on one player for the first time for many years. He is a very good player on his day but not a great player and sadly never will be lets move on and hopefully get a replacement who wants to be part of the managers project to get our great club to heights we have never been coyi

  6. Not in the squad for the game against Bournemouth ,, Good . We don’t need his attitude in the dressing room . We have scored goals and won games without him just as payet before him . By saying he his not in the right frame of mind he is basically refusing to play and effectively on strike . Get rid of him .

  7. This is the best thing that could happen to the club, as long as a decent replacement is brought in, who is younger (21-26).
Obviously there is no guarantee a player will be a success but that’s why this is perfect, we are not getting relegated and can access and integrate the player until the end of the season.
If it doesn’t work out, move the player on (perhaps a loan with option to be first refusal to buy would be the move).
Arnie is nearly 30, form is decling slowly and injury record is getting worse and worse. Also, his attitude is already decling because he is no longer the “main man” (you see it in his body language, in games).
If we wait a season his value will at least half and we might be in a more precarious position (although I don’t think so under Pelle). This will make integrating much riskier and more likely to fail (we have seen new strikers with, some fans, on their backs because they’re not scoring, even when the reason is because the team is creating nothing (Arnie’s start under Bilic, Zaza (may have been poor but I don’t think it was proven at West Ham, he barely got any touches & when he did his confidence was gone)
Arnie knows after this there will be no bigger moves ever coming with his decline & probably realises his injuries are only getting worse, so I don’t really blame him. We’d soon cut him if he started playing poorly.
The only sour taste is him refusing to play but then again, isn’t this best for us all, if he gets injured we’re stuck with him!
Sorry for the long post, I’m just loving Pelle’s effect on this club (and winning and the money spent helps lol)
