Paul Merson will hardly have endeared himself to many Irons fans this morning with his new comments on Marko Arnautovic’s future.
Predictable and lazy are the words that come to mind as he follows a well trodden pundit path of linking the Hammers top man with a move away from the club.
With Chelsea apparently considering a move for Bournemouth’s Calum Wilson, Merson hasn’t been slow to tell Maurizio Sarri not to bother with him and go instead for Marko.
Won’t happen of course with the Hammers revealing to CandH there has been no interest in him from other clubs and that they are simply not in the market to let him leaver anyway.
It’s quite surprising in some respects that columnists/pundits are allowed to earn money from such easy hits notably when they use old quotes from unreliable sources to back it up – in this case his brother who gave it large about a Man U move a few months ago.
He says: ” I don’t think he’s ( Wilson) the answer. He’s a good stop-gap but he’s not going to guarantee you top four.
He can make things happen and do something special.
His agent has been making noises about him leaving as well and Chelsea could probably get him for £40m because of his age.
Yeah yeah yeah – move on Merse!
