Arnie wonders about first team chances :-)

|

Marko Arnautovic reckons he’s almost there in terms of fitness but is playing his cards close to his chest on whether he will be back for Southampton or Burnley.

However, he’s not even sure he will get back in should he be fit such is the way the team is playing at the moment declaring: I’m very proud of the team.

“In recent games, we’ve been playing very well, and I’m very happy that the team have got four in a row, and we keep climbing up. ”

He told  West Ham TV: “I hope, at the weekend as well, against Watford; home game, with the fans behind us, I hope our boys give everything to get five in a row, and we keep looking forward.

“The way the team are playing, I might have to stay out of the team!”

He continued: “I’m feeling good. I’m nearly there. I have another scan on Sunday to see how it’s going.

“We are looking forward towards next week. I’m not sure for Southampton or for Burnley, but, I’m almost there.”

ClaretandHugh says: Given the pessimism when Arnie got injured against Cardiff things haven’t turned out too badly have they? Many would see it as the strangest blessing in disguise because until them our whole attacking impetus appeared to have been loaded on his shoulders with none of us having much belief in any of the other strikers. But under Pellegrini we have developed a new way of playing apart from the ‘big striker thing’ which became the only tactic under Allardyce and Bilic. And when Arnie half jokes that he may have to stay out of the team you have to wonder whether he may be making fewer appearances should things continue as they are going. It will be good to have him fit but should the likes of Chicahrito and Antonio continue as we have seen them over recent games we have a very interesting period ahead of us.

Hang on a minute hugh. Just because bilic lost it at the end of his term as manager lets not forget the last season he gave us at Upton park playing some great football where it was hardly ever about playing the big man up top.
