Steve Stammers from the Daily Mirror suggests that Arsenal has now entered the race to sign Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette
Stammers claims “Gunners’ boss Wenger is to meet with a representative of the player this week in France. But also interested are West Ham and Champions League runners-up Atletico Madrid. The asking price will be around £45million. The Hammers — reflecting the ambition of their board as they prepare for life in their new home at London’s Olympic Stadium — have already had an offer of £42m rejected.”
Credibility for the article dropped massively with the suggestion West Ham had bid £42m and had it rejected. The figure was supposed to have been £31m but even then Slaven Bilic rubbished the original story saying it was NOT TRUE at the time.
Lacazette’s agent recently made it clear the player has no wish to play for West Ham or Spurs, however, one report from is camp suggested that only a move to Arsenal would convince him to move across the Channel this summer. How convenient that Arsenal suddenly want him and are prepared to pay £45m. Sorry Mr Stamers, I am not buying it. We give this rumour a low rating.
Seems to me that the Premiership Big Boys have started already to worry about West Ham . Hopefully with good reason . Come on you Hammers .
Roman, if you want the best you have to pay for the best, if you want Wilson well we are not getting the best. Personally I want us to but the best – our better players like Payet will stay if we sign top players. I don’t think he would be too excited if we spent 20m on a player who has only played a small amount of time in the premiership.
Thanks John.I just remember our owners having a tight fist when it comes to spending.Point taken.
Can someone tell me if the club is considering a move for Wilson? The Laczette saga smacks of greed by all concerned.I still think Michy is a better proposition at a lesser valuation.
