Arsenal game the first to fall

|

Arsenal’s Europa League game against PSV Eindhoven has been postponed this week, suggesting that more games are likely to follow this weekend.

The Gunners announced that their European clash with the Dutch club on Thursday has been suspended after the club liaised with UEFA and the Metropolitan Police following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

That would suggest that there are policing and security issues around the game, and it paints a grim picture of what may come this weekend.

The Hammers, of course, are away from home against Everton but it seems that London games are in very real danger of being postponed.

The entire Premier League calendar at the weekend was suspended, with the Irons missing out on their game against Newcastle, and there is the prospect that the league could make the decision to postpone every game this weekend too.

The Hammers are waiting with baited breath to discover the Premier League’s decision.
