Arsenal 0-1 West Ham

Waseem from Hammers Chat’s Patreon site has taken a retrospective look at West Ham’s victory at The Emirates which has caused such a stir in the Premier League

There probably isn’t a sweeter result in recent times than beating Arsenal at their own ground. With their overhyped and toxic fanbase, their hopes and dreams came crashing down yesterday.

Hopefully, they now realise they’re not as good as they think they are. West Ham wiped the smiles off the Gunners smug faces with old-fashioned defending and heart. Every player put in a shift and played for the shirt and our amazing away supporters! COYI!

Player Ratings:

Areola:7
Had little to do apart from making a few stops. Good distribution but needs to improve his kicking.

Aaron Wan Bissaka:9 (MOTM)
Absolute class. Brilliant going forward and unbeatable in 1v1 situations. Terrorised Calafiori throughout the game.

Todibo:8
Classy centre-back who makes the entire defence look more assured.

Kilman:7
Solid and forming a good understanding with Todibo.

Grandad Cressie:7
Rolled back the years, using his experience to support Scarles.

Scarles:8
Impressive debut. Had Nwanieri in his pocket. Fearless with a bright future ahead.

Scarles has a very bright future

El Machin:9
Beast in midfield. Dominated the much-hyped Arsenal midfield.

Soucek:7
The old warhorse worked tirelessly and had a few early chances to score.

JWP:8
Surprisingly influential, breaking up Arsenal’s play. Couldn’t even beat Raya in a foot race!

Kudus:8
Strong as a bull. Arsenal couldn’t get the ball off him even when surrounded by three or four players. Dominated Gabriel all game.

Bowen:7
Quiet for the first 20 minutes but clinical when he got his chance. Great save from No. 41 – gave him nightmares.

Substitutes:

  • Mavropanos:7 Always ups his game against Arsenal.
  • Ferguson:5 Needs to get match sharp.
  • Soler:5 Token gesture appearance.

Referee:2

Complete bottle-job. Needed VAR to overturn his mistake.

Graham Potter:7

Spot-on tactics but needs to build on this result for the rest of the season until he gets better players in the summer.

Opposition (Arsenal):3

Their season is falling apart, and I couldn’t be happier. They looked sluggish and out of ideas. Their overhyped players were made to look average. With their lack of firepower and mounting injuries, they could slip out of the top four
