Arsenal move in on Irons strike target

West Ham’s chances of landing Maxi Gomez have been hit by Arsenal who have moved in on the Celta Vigo front man.

The Hammers have been keen on the player since the winter but although both Barcelona and Spurs have been linked with a move for the 22 year old we have learned that it’s the Gooners who are now positioning themselves for serious talks with the front man.

We understand the north Londoners have made their moves through agents over the past few days and are ready to pay the £43 million transfer fee and talk personal terms with the striker.

It is a near repeat of the scenario surrounding Alexandre Lacazette who joined Arsenal in 2017 after the Hammers had conducted lengthy talks with Lyon before opting for Arsenal.

The Irons haven’t entirely given up on the payer but are now looking more keenly at  Porto’s Moussa Marega, Salomon Rondon and Aleksander Mitrovic.

  1. Arsenal’s budget is 40m this summer so doubt they’d blow entire budget on a forward when they have other areas which are in need of more strengthening. Calling this nonsense

  2. No way Arsenal are involved here given a pre-determind transfer budget of £40M (Unless they win the Europa League) and Emery had prioritised a CB and Ramsey replacement, followed by Wingers, LB & RB. No need for another striker with Laca and Auba up front and lots of talk of Eddie Nketiah getting more playing time next term.

  3. Well that’s a surprise..we had the chance to sign him but as usual they held back because there was a chance that Sullivan and co could get him on the cheap in the summer if celta got relegated, and now we have missed ou our chance..and they wonder why the fans get missed off… Absolute clowns

  4. Do we know if we had the opportunity to do the deal in January and loan him back as was suggested? In my mind, if there was the chance to do the deal, we should have done it. I expect there’ll be too much competition now and more attractive offers.

  5. They have an abundance of strikers already and he isn’t displacing Lacazette or Aubameyang…

  6. No way they have Lacazette and Aubamyamg who are good together . Unless he wants to move as a back up striker and not much game time . Maybe it’s media conspiracy started by someone at West Ham so they can say another team got him rather than being embarrassed at not wanting to pay the asking price more likely .

  7. This transfer only happens if arsenal sell Auba or Laca
