Nothing will feel quite as iniquitous as the point denied West Ham United after Callum Wilson’s late equaliser against Arsenal was chalked off after VAR’s infamous 5 minute VAR search for visible justification for doing so, despite the referee on the pitch awarding a goal.
However, the fall out rumbles on and it appears that West Ham are to be further punished following goal keeping coach Rui Barbosa being shown a red card by referee Chris Kavanagh in the aftermath of that decision which could cost West Ham their Premier League status. High Stakes indeed.
As shieldsgazette.com reports:
The FA have now shed more light on the incident that saw Barbosa land a misconduct charge and a touchline suspension for the trip to St James’ Park on Sunday.
A statement via FA Spokesperson read: “Rui Barbosa of West Ham United has been charged with misconduct following their Premier League match against Arsenal on Sunday 10 May.
“It’s alleged that around the 88th minute, the goalkeeping coach used offensive, insulting, or abusive language and/or gestures, leading to his dismissal. It’s further alleged that following the conclusion of the match, he acted in an improper manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour towards a match official.
“Rui Barbosa has until Monday 18 May to provide a response”
Anyone watching the game on Sky Sports with a modicum of lip reading ability will likely know what Barbosa’s brief expletive -ridden outburst concerned. Will he be bothered by a ban or a fine which the club will pay:? Not a lot. Compared with the repercussions of that lost Premier League point, it all seems a bit futile. Surely better just to reprimand him and move on – better still, spend three years doing nothing.
Of course, that isn’t the FA’s style – unless you happen to be from Chelsea or Manchester City.
Barbosa should tell them where to alight.
VAR and the FA encourage cheating and the officials are collectively corrupt in their decision making in favour of the big clubs . The current season has been ruined by set piece and long throw in melees in the penalty area . Look at how many times Arsenal and co have been penalised for blocking players and hampering the goal keeper . Never ??. It is quite clearly obstruction and in the rules it is a foul . The FA could and should have enforced the laws as written but that would have upset the big clubs who employ coaches to teach the dark arts to the players . Now it is a lottery . Every ball into the box results in a wrestling match . Add in the crazy Offside desicions where someones shirt sleeve if offside … really ???????? players lean forward to run and it is a natural movement . If their feet are onside it should be play on … The game is ruined as a spectacle and the excitement of a goal scored nolonger applies as officials annalyse the last minutes of play in an attempt to disallow the score . Refs have opted out as they know that VAR is the ultimate force controlling the game . Very sad . Our great game has been ruined . Never again will I queue up in the rain to pat extortinate money to watch a game ruined by the inept officialdom and toffs in the FA who are now more important than the game and the supporters.
He responded to the abuse the referee dished out when he disallowed the goal. After all he was iinstructed to find a reason to rule the goal out by VAR.
You cannot say anything contentious, we all know that , we live in a world of suppression not expression, heaven help you if you say anything contrary to the FA LAW……….
