Arsene Wenger has revealed Arsenal scouted Dimitri Payet but they decided they didn’t need him as they had a number of existing creative attacking players and his age put them off.
Wenger now claims Arsenal looked at Payet too but opted not to sign him due to the attacking talents already at the club.
“I have known him for a long, long time. He played in St-Etienne and we watched him many times,” said Wenger.
“I think he has all the attributes to be a top, top player but he is 29-years-old already. I had these kind of players, we had no need “
“Historically we have always had a great number of creative players. We have [Mesut] Ozil, [Jack] Wilshere, [Santi] Cazorla and [Aaron] Ramsey.”
Wenger may live to regret those words and decision as the world’s free-kick specialist lines up against Arsenal this Saturday.
Haha,Jack Wilshere,Aaron Ramsey? He has lost the plot ain’t he 🙂
Arsenal may not have needed Payet but they certainly need Bilic.
Arsenal may not have needed Payet but they certainly wish they had him now!
The joke is the people saying Wenger should sign him now for next season,
Why would any player leave us now to join The Gooners,
The world has changed people it’s Gooners that want to leave to come to us,they can keep the Jenkinsons of the world, their Keepers are rubbish
Their Defenders are worse,
Sanchez who will leave in the Summer,Walcott and Ox also,
That leaves him with the players he thinks are better then Payet,
As delusional as Hippo
