Many pundits have come out citing the Conference win and other issues as a reason for the new contract to be offered to him now.

Even despite the 0-6 humbling Robbie Savage is today reported as saying much the same failing to understand – like his media colleagues – this is about style rather than substance.

Thankfully Sky Sports have published a piece from Comment and Analysis

It’s a lengthy and fascinating piece which we recommend highly to you and can be found at David Moyes’ future at West Ham: For some supporters this is about much more than results – style issues remain | Football News | Sky Sports.

Building to the point, Bate says that while it is easy to tell West Ham supporters to be careful what they wish for, it is surely more interesting to ask why it is that they wish for it.

What is it about the football, what is it about Moyes, that is not generating the hope or excitement of elsewhere?

In the piece that follows he goes into enormous depth and includes five sets of graphic stats to demonstrate his point.

In the area ‘opposition passes allowed per defensive action (PPDA)’ he reveals that West Ham rarely turn the ball over high up the pitch.

He adds those moments,. that can be such a source of excitement, winning possession around the opposition box, are rare under Moyes. Only bottom club Sheffield United have fewer high turnovers.

It’s a fascinating piece and worth a read from all disgruntled Irons fans.
