Ashby chance may be gone

Harrison Ashby may not move to Newcastle in the summer, as they target a bid for Leeds youngster Cody Drameh.

The Daily Mail reports that the Magpies are keeping close tabs on Drameh’s progress at Leeds and could swoop in January.

Drameh is also being tracked by Borussia Dortmund, having impressed during his time at Elland Road, and making seven senior appearances at the age of 20.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Cardiff City and won both their Young Player of the Year and Player of the Year award, despite playing just 22 times for the Welsh club.

Newcastle made a move for Ashby in January but were unable to get a deal over the line.

They are said to retain an interest in signing the Hammers ace, but Drameh may have edged ahead of him as the top target.

Ashby has only made seven senior appearances for the Irons.
