Ashton explains why fans are split

Claret and Hugh Facebook follower Michael Miller echoes Dean Ashton’s thoughts on why Hammers fans are split over David Moyes’ future.
I heard Dean Ashton on Talksport this morning talking about Moyes contract situation. He was very good at explaining the current situation where the punters are split about Moyes’ future.

He said it all came down to the playing style, where West Ham will play well for ten minutes, passing and moving etc, and will then go back into their shell, allowing the opposition to have the ball, play in front of us and try to hit the opposition on the break!

My mind goes back to the first home game of the season against Chelsea. They absolutely battered us, it was attack against defence, West Ham surrendered possession and didn’t seem to have any ambition.
The game was played almost entirely in West Ham’s half. Chelsea couldn’t score a goal in a month of Sundays, West Ham broke away twice and scored. We left the stadium in a state of shock, elated with the win but with no idea how it all panned out – unfortunately this situation has been replicated in too many games this year and a large proportion of the fanbase have got the ‘hump’ with it!
Add to this Moyes repeated assertions about his ‘successes’ at West Ham, qualifying for Europe, winning a ‘Mickey Mouse’ Cup and the League position. Fair enough, you can’t deny this but it’s so depressing, total frustration with the team’s style etc etc – I could go on… !

The European win is now relegated to being Mickey Mouse for you, Hugh? Wow. Some of us actually enjoyed it. How negative.
